I love the notion of constructing ourselves. I was lucky enough to be running the writing group where Alan wrote this poem and the entire group was touched by this fragile-strong and beautiful piece. I appreciate how the talk of structure is sometimes solid and sometimes flimsy, sometimes difficult and other times less so.
Do you notice the fire in yourself? I love the admission that the poet doesn't. How common it is to not see one's own brilliance. And how fortunate it is to [hopefully] see that brilliance reflected back to you when you are part of a nurturing community.
Many thanks to Alan W. from Wisconsin for allowing me to showcase another poem he wrote.
