What a beautiful experience put to words by Alan W. in Wisconsin. Are you able to name those moments when you feel seen, heard, witnessed, even known for the first time? Was there a person or event that was a catalyst?
It's Okay to allow a circumstance to gift you with your sense of being known. So often we walk around thinking we are supposed to just KNOW how to feel known. But that's not a class we take in school and the majority of us certainly do not have family members teaching this to us in childhood or even in later years. More often than not, The Remembering of Being a Person happens when we are in a place of suffering and aching for validation from others. Sometimes that realization comes when you enter a community that validates you for who you are in your wholistic totality. That is my hope for you, that you would experience what Alan W. so beautifully articulated in his brief poem: the joy/relief/profundity of remembering that you are, indeed, Okay.
I see you, too, and I loved this poem! Now I'll go out into my day and, remembering your words, give that gift to others. ❤️
That's it.
My words on line.
I yam who I yam.
I imagine looking at myself
in a mirror.
Seeing my image.
Now,
living and breathing.
